So Clay just realized I am still taking a photo of the day...
I must not be *as* bad with the last minute photos this year if he is just realizing this today!

Last year Pack 998 and SU 70-9 added a 'Turtle Trophy' to the trophy categories.
The winner would be the slowest car that crossed the finish line in all four heats.

Magdalena *really* wanted to her snail to win the Turtle trophy.  She loved the irony of the idea.
Can I just say that it was much more stressful for me than when they finish in the middle of the pack!

When we tabulated the results, Maggie was the 4th slowest.
We then had to go back to make sure they crossed the line all four times.  I was so excited when we figured out that the first three cars did not cross the finish line all four times.

Um, I was so excited I couldn't spell Magdalena's name- so much so that I had to sing her name song!  (I hope I am not the only one that used to teach the kids info by putting it to music!)  How Embarrassing!

Congratulations Magdalena!!!

A Turtle Trophy for your cute little Snail appropriately named:
Slow Poke!

Since school got out an hour early, Pit Night was cancelled for the Girl Scouts...
But poor Sethy still had to sit there for a few hours while I weighed and measured the
Cub Scout Cars and Maggie helped set up.

Although I must say, the iPad kept the boys out of trouble,
for the most part.

It will be the trophy for the Parent Race from Pack 998 and SU 70-9 on Saturday.
I can't wait to put the wheels on.

Today I spent the evening sewing patches on Girl Scout Vests.
Now, I know I mentioned to my friends before that the reason I sew on patches is because I still have my GS patches on index cards.  Here is the proof.  Thanks Mrs. M. for being a leader to us as kids...I can't even imagine making patches for my girls and my troop is *much* smaller than the one I was in.

 Well,

 Math Jenga

Ethan had to come up with his own Math Game.  He decided to do Math Jenga.
Basically every block had a number on it.  There were 3 sets of cards, one with addition, one with subtraction and one with multiplication.  Three blocks had the same number, so you can only pull 1 of three blocks out of the 54 in the stack.

Good Luck!

Derby Car Kits

Why do the boxes change so often?
Both of these kits were purchased this Derby Season.

My poor Sethy.
You can tell he doesn't feel good by the fact he is not running around,
but in fact has been asleep for the last 2 1/2 hours.

 Another Day, more homework.

As a child I was one of those annoying kids that actually *liked* school.  I would do every assignment and all the extra credit as well...to the point my 6th grade teacher refused to let me hand in any more extra credit.

So knowing I was *that* kid, it breaks my heart that my kids struggle in school.
Word Study frequently ends in tears for this guy, not to mention the negative talk I hear from both of the older ones.  I really wish I could snap my fingers and grant them my love of schoolwork.

And now, the really surprising news:  I officially hate homework!  I really think I hate it more than my kids do.  I hate the battles it causes as well as the frustration it brings out.  Most of all I HATE projects.
Wish me luck as Ethan needs to finish his Math Game Project for next week.

Why are kids so attracted to cardboard boxes?
I guess he thinks it is comfy, I am not so sure.

Find that Stuff...

Team #6

One of the older troops had a great fundraising idea...Find That Stuff.
Basically, they had a list of things to bring up.  For example, something with a heart shape
(I ran up with my engagement ring!) Or they played a song and we had to send someone up with the name of the song on a piece of paper.

Fun, Fun night.

January 10, 2013

The girl was giddy this morning.
Why you ask, because my friends and I went out to lunch and stopped in at the outlets after.
Maggie is now the proud owner of shirts that actually fit her- instead of being inches big on the sides.
Bonus:  They are actually long.

She was so excited I took her back after dinner and bought several more shirts and sweats.  Gotta love a 70% off sale at the outlets.  Although I am not sure how to get her out of the new sweatpants.

I think I *may* have a problem.
Anyone know of any good Ghiradelli 12 step programs?

I finally got Sethy Bobcat badge sewn on.  He did his good deed a few weeks ago,
but I *really* hate sewing on the Cub Scout patches.  Why oh why are they located on the pocket?!?

New year...old cheater quilt.
I have had this in my sewing box forever.  I decided to try and finish it.
Wish me luck.  It may even inspire me to finish my Irish chain quilt that I started back in 2005!

Seth cracks me up.
Nothing like the camera to turn my pouty boy from this:

to my smiley boy.

He really does have some great pouty faces, but he will not let me catch him on camera.

We started off the new year by Visiting Great Falls.
The kids thought we stayed too long, but Clay & I enjoyed it.
